Dance music, ice cream, lawn games, university leaders and “grad” bags of campus essentials greeted new and returning students to UMass Lowell on Friday, Sept. 1 and Saturday, Sept. 2 for the start of the fall semester.
Some 2,700 first year and transfer students are joining the community of River Hawks, making for a total enrollment of approximately 17,000.
This year, an estimated 4,000 students will live in university housing. Classes begin Wednesday, Sept. 6.
