The contentious negotiations that led to strike vote and the cancellation of most Lowell TeleMedia’s Folk Festival television coverage are now taking place publicly.
After news broke last Friday of the job action and LTC’s decision to limit coverage of Lowell’s annual summer celebration, NABET-CWA Local 18 released a statement explaining their reasons for voting to strike.
They also revealed they would “voluntarily” cover and broadcast the festival, though left unsaid was where that broadcast will be available.
In response, Lowell Telemedia issued it’s own statement this afternoon, offering their version of events and what brought about the decision to veer away from planned Folk Festival coverage.
