Tomorrow night’s Special Lowell City Council Meeting contains a couple of interesting tidbits as part of the City Manager’s proposed budget, including the addition of a 3rd Deputy Police Superintendent’s post and another 1st Assistant City Solicitor;
Regarding the new Solicitor’s position, a memorandum from City Solicitor Corey Williams describes the goal as having the new person work in collaboration with the current First Assistant City Solicitor as “Deputy” Solicitors. The proposal also indicates that Williams will have the “Interim” tag removed from his title, a fact confirmed by Manager Tom Golden to InsideLowell.
Meanwhile on the Police side, new Superintendent Greg Hudon cites the increased programs and services required of the department as reasons for the addition and re-organization at the top;
Four other new positions are proposed as part of the new budget, including a Solid Waste Manager and a Sustainability Director in the Department of Public Works, a Social Worker in the Department of Health and Human Services, and an Office Assistant in the Parking Department.
