Scratch one potential interim Schools Superintendent off the list.
The Telegram & Gazette reported Tuesday that the Easthampton School Committee voted to hire Maureen Binienda as their Interim Superintendent for the next year. The former Worcester Public Schools leader was one of six applicants selected to be interviewed by the Lowell School Committee last week as part of their own interim search process to replace Dr. Joel Boyd, whose last day on the job is now just 15-days away.
Binienda was one of three external candidates who advanced in the Mill City’s process. She was considered by at least one “Inside” source to be the favorite to land the job if the School Committee opted to hire an outside individual rather than one of the three internal candidates.
Robin Desmond, Latifah Phillips and Liam Skinner were automatically granted interviews as part of the process, while Kevin McCaskill (Assistant Boston Superintendent) and Jannelle Pearson-Campbell (Interim Northampton Superintendent) were the other two external candidates granted interviews.
