Coalition for a Better Acre is gearing up for National Night Out and everyone is invited.
The annual event, held on the first Tuesday in August, is meant to increase awareness about police programs in communities, such as drug prevention, town watch, neighborhood watch, and other anti-crime efforts. Its origins trace back to the Philadelphia suburbs in 1984, and the first observances began simply with neighbors turning on their porch lights and sitting in front of their homes.
At this year’s Acre neighborhood celebration, there will be meet and greets with first responders, a dunk tank, the Lowell Fire Department’s SAFE mobile, music by DJ Manny and many more fun activities.
The event takes place on August 6, 2024, from 4pm to 7pm at North Common Park.
This year’s commemoration is presented by the CBA, City of Lowell, Lowell Police Department, Lowell Parks & Conservation Trust and the Bike Connector.
