CHELMSFORD – Four students who recently participated in the Chelmsford High School Shark Tank competition went on to compete at the 2024 DifferenceMaker High School Idea Challenge hosted at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, taking second place.
On Tuesday, Nov. 19, Team Mud Bud represented CHS and competed against teams from eight other high schools from all over the Commonwealth.
Each student group was tasked with identifying a real-world problem, recognizing the opportunities presented by this problem, and identifying a viable solution to the problem.
By finishing second, Team Mud Bud earned a prize of $300, which was donated by Massachusetts DECA.
DECA is a student organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
The Chelmsford High School students who made up Team Mud Bud were senior Xavier May and freshmen Briana Taverna, Mason Phommakoth and Nolan Barth.
The partnership of Chelmsford High School, Massachusetts DECA, The Manning School of Business at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and the Rist DifferenceMakers Institute at UMass Lowell continues to benefit the students of Chelmsford High.
