The UMass Lowell Cyber Center is the latest Lowell Innovation Network Corridor (LINC) component to be revealed in what has been a slow, but steady rollout of national entities locating operations in the Mill City.
The Cyber Center is a collaboration between UML, a leading research university, and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), a global leader in technology integration. The partnership will be formalized Wednesday in an 8am ceremony at the UMass Club, featuring Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, UML Chancellor Julie Chen, UMass President Marty Meehan, a number of SAIC corporate officers and the Hanscom Air Force Base Command Team.
The transformative partnership will bring new jobs; expand the Lowell Innovation Network Corridor; provide direct support to Hanscom Air Force Base, companies, nonprofits, and other regional assets, and train the next generation of STEM workers.
SAIC is an American technology company headquartered in Reston, Virginia that provides government services and information technology support. The company’s latest balance sheet lists its assets at over $5.3-billion.
LINC is an $800-million development that has already spawned a number of partnerships between UMass Lowell and national players, including Draper Labs, Mass General Brigham, Bioversity and Home Base.
