Lowell Mayor Sokhary Chau has scored a spot on one of Governor-Elect Maura Healey’s Transition Full Policy Committees.

Chau, who this past January became the first Cambodian to be named Mayor, will serve on the Thriving Youth and Young Adults Committee, which is Co-Chaired by Worcester Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Rachael H. Monarrez, and Amanda Fernandez of Latinos for Education.

Chau becomes part of the Committee charged with addressing learning loss from the pandemic and giving all children and families equitable access to the educational, social, emotional and behavioral supports they need.
