Reservations No Longer Being Taken at UMass Lowell Inn and Conference Center

Amid rumors of a state takeover for the purpose of creating a migrant shelter, the UMass Lowell Inn and Conference Center is no longer accepting reservations.

In a statement obtained by InsideLowell, the university said, “The possibility of the state’s acquisition of the ICC remains in the very early stages and at this time no final decision has been made.”

However, the university said reservations were not being taken to avoid future disruptions:

“The ICC is not accepting new reservations at this time. UMass Lowell is working with local vendors and organizations to identify alternatives for those ICC clients and guests who currently have reservations that the ICC may no longer be able to keep. Alternatives will be communicated to clients in the next week.

The university previously announced its plans to redirect students to alternative residence hall locations to avoid a potentially disruptive move mid-semester. It is important to note that while students’ residence hall assignments changed, no students currently reside in the ICC. UMass Lowell student move-in is scheduled for Sept. 1 and 2.”

Why not use the empty hotel in Chelmsford

  2. Julie S says:

Yes why didn’t Maura Healy use the Radisson?

As reported in this article, it’s already been looked at. https://insidelowell.com/any-room-at-the-inn-and-conference-center/

Also out of commission for a bit, so would likely require some work. And it’s privately owned, necessitating some type of negotiation and agreement. The ICC is state property. Easy to take over

  4. MG says:

Maybe the reason not using the Radisson is because it’s privately owned. I am not ok with this especially since we have a housing crisis and homeless crisis with Americans.
