Today, Congresswoman Lori Trahan (MA-03) voted to pass a comprehensive government funding bill to avert a partial shutdown on Friday and deliver $13,928,863 in federal funding for critical projects in communities across the Third District.
Among the items benefitting in Lowell are the Gallagher Transportation Center, UMass Lowell’s East Campus development, Upper Merrimack Street Corridor,
“Since the day I took office, I’ve fought for the communities in our district that have been left behind by Washington for too long. The government funding package passed today is a significant federal investment in our collective future. I’m proud of the funding we secured for vital programs that working families depend on to make ends meet while also securing significant investments that will flow directly to the Third District,” said Congresswoman Trahan. “This nearly $14 million in federal funding will support the completion of long overdue projects, stimulating our local economy and making a real difference in the lives of so many families.”
The government funding package will also deliver $13.9 million in Community Project Funding that Trahan advocated for to support critical initiatives across the Third District, including:
*$3,616,279 for the rehabilitation of the Commuter/ADA Access Way at the Lowell Regional Transit Authority’s Gallagher Intermodal Transportation Center in Lowell.
*$1,000,000 to enable the construction of the Advanced Innovation Facility, a central part of UMass Lowell’s East Campus development.
*$1,000,000 to support the City of Lowell’s improvement of a stretch of the Upper Merrimack Corridor with sidewalk repairs, ADA improvements, lighting, landscaping, seating, and wayfinding to make a safe and comfortable pedestrian-friendly corridor.
*$350,000 for the installation of new sidewalks in Chelmsford on Parkerville Road between the Westford Town Line and Maple Road.
The legislation now moves to the Senate for passage. A detailed summary of the bill is available HERE.

What used to be called Congressional Spending then called earmarks is what this is. Just add to the shopping list, no fighting required. She was one of 339, most of which have added to the list too.
