Lowell — Superintendent Greg Hudon is pleased to report that the Lowell Police Department wrapped up a food drive on Tuesday by delivering two cruisers full of non-perishable food items to the Merrimack Valley Food Bank.

The Lowell Police Department’s food drive lasted from Nov. 1 to Nov. 22 and collected two police cruisers full of food for the Merrimack Valley Food Bank. The items were delivered on Tuesday, in time for the holiday season.

All of the food that was donated will benefit individuals and families in need.

The Merrimack Valley Food Bank, founded in 1991, has delivered over 63 million pounds of food to families throughout the Merrimack Valley and operates six hunger relief programs.

“I want to thank everyone who generously donated to our food drive,” said Superintendent Hudon. “We were able to collect an impressive amount of non-perishable food items, and the generosity of our community will be a lifeline for individuals and families in need this holiday season. The Lowell Police Department seeks to be a resource for all in the community, and we are extremely pleased that we are able to help those in need.”

“We are grateful and overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity from the community, especially LPD taking the time to coordinate a food drive on behalf of the Merrimack Valley Food Bank,” said Merrimack Valley Food Bank Executive Director Debbie Callery. “During the holidays we are in awe at the outpouring of support we receive, and it is so appreciated.
