2025 Lowell High School Distinguished Alumni Announced

LOWELL – The Lowell High School Distinguished Alumni Committee is pleased to announce the 2025 class of honorees. This year’s class includes two university professors, a national soccer referee, a long serving Religious of the Sacred Heart and a prominent public private sector success story.

George O’Meara, Class of 1959, Professor Emeritus at the University of Florida, the Florida Medical Entomology Laboratory in Vero Beach Florida. During his 41-year career he served as a teacher, administrator and researcher, receiving state and National awards for his research on biology and control of mosquitoes.

Martha Roughan, Class of 1962, entered the Society of the Sacred Heart in 1966 taking her final vows in Joigny, France in 1976. She received Masters Degrees from Boston College and the University of Notre Dame. She was a teacher and administrator throughout her long career serving in schools throughout the United States.

Wadie Bahou Class of 1971, received his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine followed by sub-specialty training in Hematology and Oncology at the University of Michigan. He is currently Professor of Medicine at Stony Brook University in New York.

James Milinazzo, Class of 1972, had a long career in both private and public sector leadership positions for over forty years. He served as Mayor of the City of Lowell in 2010-11 and served as the Planning and Development Director during the downtown revitalizations of the late 1980’s. He also was the Executive Director of the Lowell Development & Financial Corporation and served as Executive Director of both the Lowell and Revere Housing Authorities receiving numerous awards.

Rachel Woo, Class of 1986, built a distinguished career as both a soccer official and administrator at the highest levels of the sport. She led the effort to establish the girls’ soccer program at Lowell High School and played at Colgate University. She was appointed to the FIFA Panel of International Referees officiating matches around the world.

The induction event is scheduled for Thursday, October 23 in the Raymond E. Riddick Athletic Center starting at 1 p.m. Parking is available in the Ayotte Garage and tickets can be validated at the registration desk at the school.
