DRACUT – Ernest H. “Ernie” Bourget, age 87, a longtime resident of Dracut died Monday, October 30, 2023 at his home following a long courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Helen C. Brunelle, for over 40 years.
He was born in Lowell on February 1, 1936, and was a son of the late Ernest H. and Frances (Vaillancourt) Bourget. He received his education in Lowell schools.
Ernie proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 34 years as a millwright at Raytheon in South Lowell.
Ernie enjoyed gardening, riding his motorcycle, playing Santa at Christmastime and spending time with his adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Ernie is survived by four children, Patricia Hebert, Robert Bourget, Kenneth Bourget and Daniel Bourget; three stepchildren, Deborah Comtois of Seabrook, NH, Richard Brunelle of Gilmanton, NH and Kenneth Brunelle, Sr. of Nashua, NH; many grandchildren including Kimberly Walters and her husband Jeffrey of Goffstown, NH, Paula Uzdanovich and her husband Mark of Nashua, NH Michelle Bertolucci and her husband Rich of Billerica,MA Melissa Brunelle and her husband Raymond Garcia of Nashua, NH and Ashley Brunelle of Gilford, NH; many great grandchildren including, Damien, Hannah, Andres, Morgan, Colbie, Brynn, Colin and Carter; three sisters, Terry Gagnon and her husband Roger of Dracut, Dorothy “Dotty” Vartanian of Pelham, NH and Lorraine “Tootsie” Asselin of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Susan Snell, grandfather of the late David Comtois, Jr. and Kenneth Brunelle, Jr. and brother of the late Robert Bourget, Lillian Bazdanes and Marie Durand.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ernie’s Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00am at St. Francis Church in Dracut. Private burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford.
