Mary Katherine Richard

MEREDITH, NH – Mary Katherine (O’Connell) Richard, 67, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18th, at her home. She was the loving wife of the late Raymond Joseph Richard, to whom she was married for 47 years.

Born in Lowell on April 3, 1956, she was the daughter of the late David M. and Christina A. (Kelly) O’Connell. Mary graduated from Lowell High School in 1974.

Mary had an extensive banking career, beginning at the former Union National Bank in Lowell and culminating at Meredith Village Savings Bank, where she was currently employed.

Mary and Ray raised their family in Townsend, MA and in 2004 built their dream house in Meredith NH, a home that always welcomed all family and friends and has been the place where so many beautiful memories have been made. She enjoyed reading, gardening, giving gifts to others, and relaxing at the beach. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Meredith, NH.

Mary is survived by her son, Raymond Joseph Richard, Jr. of Tuftonboro, NH; her daughter, Christina Ann (Richard) Maciel and her husband, Michael of East Providence, RI; three grandchildren, Cailyn Elizabeth Richard, Mary Katherine Maciel and Gabriel Joseph Maciel. She leaves sister Patricia (O’Connell) Koczera and her husband, Edwin, four brothers, Paul O’Connell and his wife, Linda, Christopher O’Connell and his wife, Mary Ellen, Robert O’Connell and his wife, Cheryl, John O’Connell; sister in-law Gail O’Connell; four brothers in-law; Paul Richard and his wife, Diane, Andre Richard and his wife, Joanne, Norman Richard and his wife, Mary, Donald Richard and his wife, Pearl; two sisters in-law; Susan Brady and her husband, Charles, Diane Bolduc and her husband, Richard; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

She is also predeceased by her brother, David O’Connell; mother and father in-law, Clement Richard and Rachel (Dery) Richard.

Although there is joy knowing Mary has been reunited with her beloved Ray, the depth of sorrow her loved ones will have to endure is enormous.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mary’s Life Celebration at the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00am at St. Michael Parish at 543 Bridge Street, Lowell, MA. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Lowell, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary’s memory to The Tomorrow Fund. A pediatric cancer foundation that Mary and her late husband supported for many years.
