With the City Council returning again to Chambers next Tuesday, the main focus will again be on whether City Councilor Corey Robinson will be in attendance. If the agenda is any indication, the District 2 Representative plans on being present, either in person or through zoom.
Robinson, who is facing charges of Domestic Assault and has seen at least six of his colleagues ask that he step aside pending the outcome of the case, has filed five separate motions, while other councilors have filed a motion dealing with how to fill a seat that becomes vacant during the term and another one asking about best practices for adding censure of a member to the council rules:
Requests for comment from Robinson about whether he plans on being in attendance, and in what form, have so far gone unreturned.
When asked if councilors must be in attendance either in person or virtually to have their motions heard, a reliable source inside City Hall, responded that “council rules don’t speak to it,” and in the past, “some have been seconded and then referred with no discussion, while others have just been removed from the agenda until the councilor returns.”

It would be a shame if the motions were tabled because each asks for information needed to benefit the residents of the Centralville district. I would be disappointed if other counselors let their personal distastes get in the way of providing services to any of the residents of Lowell.
The link provided on the lowell city council info page for the zoom meeting – has not worked properly the past 2 weeks. It redirects to “how to join a meeting” not the actual meeting.. looks as if it’s the same this week! I’ve sent mgeary an email! Anyone have the right link or know where it may be?

It would be concerning if the personal biases of other council members were to interfere with the provision of services to all of Lowell’s residents. The motions are filed on behalf of the residents, who have elected the counselor twice, and not for personal gain.
