Boomer Baseball Weekly Recap (May 2, 2024)

This week was highlighted by our 8U and 12U softball teams hitting the field after great winter workouts for both teams.  Our baseball teams played great games across New England versus top competition all weekend.  Our 9U, 10U, 11U and 12U teams are excited to head to Oakland, Maine this coming weekend to play the Southern Maine River Rats program at “Little Fenway”, a youth baseball replica of Fenway Park, created in honor of Harry Alfond.  Take a look at our top performers from this past week…

8U Softball

The 8U Boomer Black softball team revenged last week’s loss with a win over 8U Purple. Defensive standouts were Murphy Akashian, Avery Kalitka, Shea Duffy, and Mackenzie Favreau. Stella McCoy had 6 RBIs offensively to propel Purple to victory.

9U Jaxx Silva had a great day on the mound and in the field

12U Softball

12U Boomer softball opened the season with a few scrimmages. Sophie Ouellette was the star of the day with three hits, three runs, and three RBIs. Kali Borrelli contributed with a hit, two runs, and an RBI. Ali Pimentel played terrific defense at shortstop while adding a hit, two runs, and an RBI.

9U Baseball

David Cespedes, Angelo Santiago and Jaxx Silva combined on the mound to pitch twelve innings across two games to lead the 9U to a Select Baseball sweep. Jackson Brown and Boomer Akashian provided terrific defense in the wins. The team heads to Waterville, Maine this weekend to play in the Fenway Faceoff against the Southern Maine River Rats at Harry Alfond Field.

10U Baseball

10U split their games on the weekend against The Show New England Elite. James Kane, Junior Ventura, Jacoby Romanowsky, and Thomas Florence each had multiple hits on the day. Emily LeLacheur reached base several times, scoring 2 runs and recording an RBI.

Matthew Rurak has started the season with a hot bat showcasing his power to all fields

11U Baseball

Boomer 11U went 2-0 on Sunday against the Nor’Easters Inferno Elite. Matthew Matos was the star of the weekend going 4-4 at the plate with 2 walks and 5 runs scored. Matos also turned a highlight reel double play from shortstop with a leaping throw to first. Emilio Cespedes displayed his shut down pitching allowing only 5 hits and 1 run through 5 innings. Jack Duffy played well defensively with a few great catches in left field.

12U Baseball

Boomer 12U split with Slam Baseball of Newburyport. After dropping Game 1, Owen White pitched a complete game leading Boomer to victory, 3-1. Boomer 12U will look to find its form at the plate as it heads north to Oakland, Maine.

13U Baseball

The 13U Boomer Baseball squad lost their Sunday double header to the Nokona Chiefs. Kingston Phouvong went 3-for-4, while Dylan LeLacheur and Michael Rillovick both went 3-for-5 in the twin bill. Phouvong and LeLacheur also played very well defensively. The 13U team will look to get back to their winning ways with four games scheduled this weekend.

14U Baseball

14U Kieran Donaghue stayed hot at the plate going 3-for-6 in our doubleheader. Thomas Shay, Melchizedek Vann and Zach Chachus also contributed to the offense. George Grillakis and Mike White were solid on the mound.

15U Baseball

Liam White pitched 4 innings in relief for Phillips Academy junior varsity in their game vs St John’s Prep.

16U Baseball

John Keefe pitched 2 and 1/3 innings of scoreless relief in Central Catholic’s contest with Lowell. Ned Akashian had 2 hits in Lowell’s game against Chelmsford. Liam Conley had 2 hits, scored 3 runs and contributed an RBI as Austin Prep played Pingree in JV action.
