LPD Hosting National Night Out

LOWELL — Superintendent Greg Hudon is pleased to report that the Lowell Police Department is inviting the community to join police at National Night Out, an annual celebration that seeks to bring police and community members together.

National Night Out is held annually on the first Tuesday in August. It is a nationwide campaign designed to strengthen the relationship between public safety officials and residents to foster community partnerships and improve safety in neighborhoods.

This year marks the 41st anniversary of National Night Out nationwide.

The family-friendly events will give residents the opportunity to come together as a community and interact with local law enforcement.

Lowell Police, in collaboration with the Coalition for a Better Acre, Lowell Alliance, Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association (CMAA), Highlands Neighborhood Group, Lowell Community Health Center, Bike Connector, Lowell Housing Authority and the Lowell Recreation Department, will host two National Night Out events in different neighborhoods, with one being held in the Acre neighborhood and the other in the Lower Highlands neighborhood.

In the Lower Highlands, the celebration will be held at the Morey Elementary School, 130 Pine St., from 5-7 p.m. The event will feature a bouncy house, a dunk tank, games, free food, raffles, music, dancing and more.

In the Acre, the celebration will be held on the North Common, 413 Fletcher St., from 4-7 p.m. The event will feature music from a DJ and activities for children and adults alike, as well as a bicycle giveaway and performances by local artists.

“National Night Out is a time-tested opportunity for residents and police officers to come together, share some laughs, and to get to know each other in a fun and safe environment,” said Superintendent Hudon. “I’d like to invite all community members to come out for a great time and to get to know some of our officers here at the Lowell Police Department.”
