“Mom’s” the Word from Congresswoman’s Office

Incumbent 18th Middlesex State Representative Rady Mom received another high-level endorsement as he seeks to fend off yet another challenge to the seat he’s held for nearly a decade.

Mom’s office released a statement from Lori Trahan today, in which the Third District Congresswoman endorsed him for re-election.

As a Lowell native, I know how important it is to have leaders like Rady Mom who step up and work together to deliver for our community,” Trahan’s statement reads. “I’ve worked closely with Representative Mom on so many important projects in the Mill City, including the Rourke Bridge and most recently the Lowell Innovation Network Corridor, which is going to create thousands of good paying jobs and hundreds of affordable housing units. I’m proud to support Rady’s campaign, because whenever Lowell needs someone to step up for us on Beacon Hill, he answers the call.”

Trahan is the second high-profile office holder to back Mom in the September 3rd primary. Last week, Massachusetts Speaker of the House, Ronald Mariano, endorsed his colleague.

The five-term State Rep is locked in what is expected to be another tight contest.

Tara Hong, who came up just 56-votes shy of unseating Mom in the 2022 Democratic primary, is once again on the ballot. So, too, is first-time candidate Andrew Kollar.

Hong received the endorsement of 350 Mass Action earlier this week.

Last week, InsideLowell published an article running down the numerous endorsements received by the 18th Middlesex candidates, as well as the candidates vying to replace Richard Howe, Jr. in the Middlesex North Register of Deeds contest.

In that race, Lowell City Councilor Sokhary Chau yesterday received the backing of Massachusetts Attorney General, Andrea Campbell.
