The first Friday of the month brings us another Wellpoint All-Star, the monthly feature where our friends at Wellpoint pay tribute to City of Lowell employees who toil behind the scenes, making our city and our community a better place.

This month’s spotlight shines on Maryann Manzi, Public Safety Researech & Planning Director for the Lowell Police Department. When asked to describe what she does, LPD Superintendent Greg Hudon said there isn’t much she doesn’t do for the department.

“Maryann and her team seek out, apply for and track all police department grants,” Hudon says. “They bring in millions of dollars to the City to support our efforts ranging from traffic enforcement, to staffing,  gang suppression and intervention efforts. She and her team also coordinate most of our social media and are involved in organizing and coordinating our youth and community outreach events.”
