#InsideDracut: “Rooted in Wellness Week”

Kerri Foisy, owner of Rooted Wellness Company, is the originator of Dracut Rooted in Wellness week

Kerri Foisy opened her business, Rooted Wellness Company, in Dracut in February 2024, and she hasn’t wasted any time integrating herself into the community.

With an eye toward highlighting the businesses in town that offer holistic and mental-health services, including her own, she initiated the first annual Dracut Rooted in Wellness Week.

“Holistic and mental health is so important, and there are so many of us working together to help improve the health and wellness for others,” Kerri said. “It was my vision to honor and acknowledge those in our very own community who are making an impact on people’s lives, and also to help our community learn of the different resources available to them right in their own neighborhood.”

Rooted in Wellness Week is October 14-18, with five Dracut businesses highlighting the services and goods they offer, with a goal of improving overall health and wellness.

Here are the participating businesses.

Kristy Buck and Kim Nguyen of BecomingYou Counseling Services

BecomingYou Counseling Services

BecomingYou was founded by Kristy Buck and Kim Nguyen, who provide individual therapy through telehealth for teens and adults.

Kim and Kristy wanted to create a space that welcomes you as you are. BecomingYou is all about authenticity of yourself, but also of the professional who is treating you.

If you are seeking therapy services for yourself or someone you care about, call 978-674-7423 or email becomingyoucounselingservices@gmail.com.

Moonlight and Mindfulness owners Nikki and Tyler Rutledge

Moonlight and Mindfulness

Moonlight and Mindfulness is a store at the Beaver Brook Mill, 91 Mill Street, Unit 7, that offers handmade metaphysical and holistic healing products, including hand-poured candles and jewelry, as well as a variety of workshops, like meditation, yoga, candle-making classes and more, “to help you embrace your darkness to ignite your inner light.”

Owner Nikki Rutledge started the business as an online store but jumped at the chance to open a physical store with a goal of M&M becoming “a sort of holistic wellness hub” for Dracut and beyond.

October is an especially good time to visit M&M because they have a space they call “The Moonlight Room,” with spooky-themed items.

“We’re really all about taking the light and the dark sides of yourself and blending them,” Nikki said.

Check out their calendar of upcoming events — including Rooted in Wellness Week offerings Ghost Story Blood Moon Circle (October 17) and Mediumship readings with Emily (October 19) – at www.moonlightmindfulness.com, or by emailing Moonlightmindfulness@gmail.com.

Nature’s Way Holistic Health

Dr. Jodie MacDonald created Nature’s Way, located in the Cassista Chiropractic office, 1350 Lakeview Avenue, to help people heal using natural methods. When she started to experience her own health issues that weren’t alleviated using conventional medicine, she set out to help herself using natural methods, and ended up falling in love with what she had learned.

“I felt I had to help others with the knowledge I had received,” she said. “Since then, I have helped many people heal successfully using the different modalities of holistic health.”

Christine McCarthy Motza, who is certified in animal communications and animal reiki, has joined Nature’s Way. Her services include animal communication and energy healing; pet first aid; animal naturopathy; ear coning; aromatouch; and more.

Maria Murphy

Pure Haven by Maria Murphy

Maria is a Dracut-based consultant for the Pure Haven line of natural health and wellness products.

“I became an advocate for safe ingredients in food and products after my 8-year-old son’s health was severely affected,” Maria said. “I learned that the general public doesn’t know there are ingredients used, such as preservatives and enhancing agents, that are harmful to our health and our Earth. They get absorbed into our bodies and accumulate, eventually causing health issues.

“It’s my mission to help you and your family become aware of this problem, how to avoid the harmful ingredients, and provide suggestions on which product lines are safer or toxin-free that perform even better than the store shelf products.”
