A day after Methuen Mayor D.J. Beauregard penned a statement to the Market Basket Board of Directors in support of Arthur T. DeMoulas, Mayor Danny Rourke and the entire Lowell City Council weighed in with their own backing for the man who helped build the supermarket chain into a national model for how to develop and maintain customer and employee loyalty.
“We strongly believe that Arthur T. DeMoulas represents the kind of principle, people-centered leadership that our society needs more of,” the missive concludes. “I offer him, as well as the entire City Council’s full support and stand by his record as a man of honor, vision, and heart.”
A copy of the letter, issued this morning to Board Chair Jay Hachigian and the entire Board of Directors, is published below;

More outstanding leadership from our Mayor!
Ready and able to boycott, whenever necessary! We can do it again!!!!!
Love seeing an active, principled mayor.
As much as I love and depend on Market Basket as a retired, I’d boycott MB to get Artie T. back.
He is one of my heroes for all he’s done with our MB in Chelmsford, and bringing MB down to Plymouth and Bourne. Their bakery is amazing, meats are the best, hot foods are wonderful. Artie T. has done everything well and helps each community MB served. Thank you Artie T.
