LOWELL – Tuesday, September 9 provides the last opportunity for Lowell voters in Wards 3, 7, and 8 (Belvidere, the Acre and the Upper Highlands) to cast their vote in the 2025 Preliminary for District City Councilor. Polls are open 7am-8pm.
Voters are reminded to bring identification with them to the polls as many are “Inactive” after not responding to the 2025 Annual Census. Inactive voters must confirm their residency and present identification showing their current Lowell address before being allowed to vote.
Acceptable forms of identification include a: driver’s license; state-issued ID card; recent utility bill; rent receipt; lease; copy of a voter registration affidavit, or; any other printed identification which contains the voter’s name and address.
Voters are encouraged to check their registration status and confirm their Ward and Precinct and polling location at www.voteinma.com or by calling the Lowell Elections Department at 978-674-4046. In-person Early Voting for the Preliminary has closed and mail-in ballots must be received by the by the close of polls (8:00 PM) on Preliminary Day. Voters may check the progress of their mail-in ballots at www.trackmyballotma.com.
Voters who have yet to mail their ballots back may hand-deliver them to the Elections Department in the basement of City Hall or return them to the drop box located inside the Lowell Police Department at JFK Plaza. Mail-in ballots cannot be returned to a polling location.
Following the Preliminary, the top-two vote getters in these Belvidere, Acre and Upper Highlands City Council districts will move on to the Election to be held on Tuesday, November 4 joining all candidates for City Council and School Committee.
The city-wide November Election will also feature Vote by Mail, in-person Early Voting and Election Day Voting and voters may request mail-in ballots at www.mailmyballotma.com.
