More Growth “Brewing” in Mill City

Lowell’s economic momentum continues to gather steam, with the announcement that a “hopping,” chain is expanding its operations to the Mill City.

WhatNow Boston, which touts itself as the premier news source for restaurants, retail, and real estate in Boston, reported over the weekend that Sea Dog Brewing Company is opening its ninth location at 203 Cabot Street in Lowell. The location formerly housed a number of food and beverage businesses, most recently El Jefe Taco Bar.

The report indicates Sea Dog, which first opened in Maine, currently operates eight locations across Maine, New Hampshire and Florida.

A recent job listing linked to in the article indicates the new Lowell Lowell location will undergo a full renovation, featuring indoor and outdoor seating for more than 300 guests and dedicated event spaces.

Sea Dog newest spot will be just a stone’s throw from UMass Lowell and the Lowell Innovation Network Corridor (LINC), offering great potential for such a business.

Given the planned $800-million LINC development, today’s announcement that Draper is already expanding its Lowell operations with a building in the Hamilton Canal Innovation District, and billions of dollars in potential investment as a result of Lowell’s recent Frontrunner City designation, the old slogan “there’s a lot to like about Lowell” seems to be resonating with development minded people across the country and the world.

We are so excited that you are coming to Lowell MA!!

We used to eat there when it was a brew house restaurant before hockey games and other Tsongas Center events.

Looking forward to cocktails and real food.
