Lowell Plan Turns to LZ Nunn

Six months after Allison Lamey left the organization to accept a job with the Massachusetts Department of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (DCAMM), the Lowell Development Financial Corporation (LDFC) and the Lowell Plan have finally found their new leader.

InsideLowell has learned that LZ Nunn, Executive Director at Project Learn since 2015, has been selected as the organization’s new Executive Director.

Nunn is a familiar face in Lowell circles, having previously served as Director of Cultural Affairs and Special Evens (CASE) for the City of Lowell. She also worked for the Greater Lowell Community Foundation and International Institute of New England.

“Lowell’s strength has always been in its people and partnerships,” Nunn was quoted as saying in a note informing board members of her hiring. “I’m inspired by the city’s new Frontrunner designation, by LINC’s potential to connect institutions and investments in service of our diverse communities, and by the ways programs like TDI and Public Matters continue to elevate resident and business-led revitalization.”

Nunn’s acceptance of the position ends a lengthier than expected search to name Lamey’s successor that had a number of people in the political and business communities speculating about the organization’s future direction. Prior to Lamey’s departure, Jim Cook had led the institution for nearly 30-years.

Lowell Plan has been dead for over 20 years. And now, they hire another retread. Good luck

LZ Nunn is a fantastic selection! She has the record of results, smarts and vision she’s brought to every position she’s held in our beautiful city. LZ is the choice we need to lead the Lowell Plan now, and we all wish her well.
