DRACUT (aka DRAKEUT) – Dracut Public Schools are hoping to give the New England Patriots an extra boost in bringing the Super Bowl trophy home.
The town’s School Committee will meet on Friday, Feb. 6, at 3:30 p.m. to officially adopt the names “Drakeut Public Schools” and “Drakeut High School” on Super Bowl Sunday, in honor of New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye.
The second year signal-caller led the team to a 14-3 record and three playoff wins, and is a finalist for 2026 Most Valuable Player award.
Friday’s vote comes after significant social media support for a name change, including from WBZ-TV meteorologist Jacob Wycoff.
“We are excited to vote on a temporary name change for Dracut Public Schools and Dracut High School,” said School Committee Chair Renee Young. “A subcommittee met with students on Wednesday afternoon, and they could not have been more excited about supporting the Patriots in a very public way. This is a fun opportunity for our entire school community to show its support for the New England Patriots and Drake Maye as they battle for another Super Bowl victory.”
