It was another great weekend of lacrosse for the Lowell Girls program, with every team showing effort, teamwork, and steady improvement across the field.
From the youngest players to the 7/8 squad, the girls continued to build on their early‑season progress, supporting one another, stepping into new roles when needed, and competing hard in every matchup. There were standout performances at all levels, but more importantly, plenty of moments that showed how much this group is growing together each week.
Grade 1/2:
The Lowell Girls 1/2 team put together another impressive performance on Sunday, earning a commanding 13–3 win over a skilled Tewksbury squad. It was a complete team effort from start to finish, with contributions across the entire roster.

The offense continued its balanced, unselfish play, featuring eight different goal scorers. Audrey Whittemore led the way with her second straight hat trick, while Charlotte Patterson, Payton O’Hearn, and Sydney Smith each added two goals. Julia Brown, Ruari Pollard, Maggie Reagan, and Casey McCabe rounded out the scoring with one goal apiece.
Lowell dominated the hustle stats, collecting 39 ground balls to maintain possession and create scoring opportunities. Evelyn McManus led with 5, followed by Sophia Bedard, Pollard, and Whittemore with 4 each. O’Hearn, Rowan Keefe, and Madeline Kilbride each tallied 3, while Brown, Riley Gudewich, and Patterson added 2. McCabe, Mila Ferrer, Raquel Fernandes, Abby Whittemore, and Smith each contributed 1.
The draw unit also played a key role, with nine different players securing draw controls to keep momentum on Lowell’s side. McCabe, Ferrer, Gudewich, Patterson, Abby Whittemore, Brown, McManus, and Audrey Whittemore all contributed at the circle.

In goal, Lowell was anchored by two young keepers who rose to the challenge. McCabe handled the first half with several important stops, and Abby Whittemore closed out the second half with strong positioning and confident play.
The defense in front of them stayed active and disciplined, contesting shots and protecting the crease throughout the game.
The team now turns its attention to next weekend as they prepare to host Harvard.

Grade 3/4 Red:
The 3/4 Red team battled through a shorthanded lineup on Sunday and came away with a tight, hard‑earned win over a strong Tewksbury squad. With fewer subs than usual, the girls pushed through fatigue, stayed composed in key moments, and held off a talented opponent in a game that went right down to the wire. It was a true team effort from start to finish.

The midfield unit led the way once again. Eva Mojica powered the offense with 6 goals and 4 assists, while Michaela Marshall added 5 goals and 2 assists. Emmagrace Glavine contributed an assist and strong all‑around play, and Gisele Smith added an assist as the middies controlled the majority of the draw controls to keep possession in Lowell’s favor.
On attack, Avery Gudewich delivered 2 goals and 2 assists, and Reese Hegarty added an assist, helping generate key scoring chances during long stretches of play.

Defensively, Kenzie Keo and Alice Regan both turned in solid performances, staying disciplined and making important stops throughout the game.
In net, Emma Smulligan came up big with several strong saves, including a pair of clutch stops late in the game to help secure the win.
The 3/4 Red team now looks ahead to hosting Chelmsford next week.

Grade 3/4 White:
The 3/4 White team earned a strong 18–5 win on Sunday in Waltham, delivering a complete effort despite being shorthanded. Every player stepped into whatever role was needed, and the group’s teamwork and versatility were on full display from start to finish.
In net, Lyla Curran‑Benson turned in an excellent performance, making 4 saves and providing steady leadership in the crease.
The defense set the tone early, causing multiple turnovers and limiting Waltham’s scoring chances. Madison O’Hearn led the way with 1 goal and 1 assist, while Katy Florence added strong defensive pressure throughout the game.
The midfield group was outstanding, driving transition and controlling possession. Addison Feeney powered the offense with 6 goals and 6 assists, while Vivian Brown added 4 goals and 3 assists. Maggie Branco contributed 1 goal and 2 assists, helping maintain tempo and keep the ball moving.
On attack, Bella Cardaci had a standout day with 5 goals and 1 assist, while Delaney Donovan added a goal and Meah Jump provided strong off‑ball movement and cutting to create space.
A special shout‑out goes to Kendra Dexter, who served as the team’s much‑needed flex player—rotating through every position on the field and delivering excellent defensive play from end to end. Her effort and versatility were a major part of the team’s success.

Grade 5/6:
The Lowell 5/6 team delivered another strong performance on Sunday, earning a 14–10 win over Tewksbury behind steady teamwork, strong draw control, and crisp ball movement.

On offense, Ellie Branco led the way with 4 goals, followed by Vivian Shanley and Maeve McKiernan, who each added 3. Brooke Sorbi contributed 2 goals, while Addison Dolan and Renee Wagner also found the back of the net.
Samantha Heslin played an important role through the midfield, helping move the ball in transition and connecting with the attack. The group’s cutting, spacing, and quick passing created consistent scoring opportunities throughout the game.

Defensively, Keira Pollard and Maya Underwood battled for ground balls and forced key turnovers to shift possession back to Lowell. Ellie Jaracz and Bella Bedard provided disciplined man‑on‑man defense, limiting Tewksbury’s ability to drive to the net.
In goal, J’Lynn Wallace came up big with multiple clutch saves, helping keep Tewksbury at bay and secure the win.
The 5/6 squad continues to build momentum as they move into next week’s matchup.

Grade 7/8:
The Lowell 7/8 team put in a strong effort on Sunday but came up short against a tough Tewksbury squad. The group competed hard throughout the game and continued to show growth across all areas of the field.

Lowell opened the scoring with a goal from Nora Kelly, and additional goals came from Maeve Marshall, Reese McKiernan, Mia Connors, and Nora Graham. Graham also added a highlight moment with a fast break down the middle for a score and made several smart plays along the sideline to help maintain possession.
Abby Smulligan delivered a standout two‑way performance, contributing both in the midfield and on defense. Sadie Ronan battled for key ground balls, while Maggie Wilson provided vocal leadership and steady positioning throughout the game. McKiernan added a late interception and assist to Kelly to spark a final push.

In goal, Erin McGovern turned in another strong outing with over a dozen saves, using her communication to organize the defense and keep the game within reach.
The 7/8 squad now looks ahead to next week as they continue building on their progress.

Lowell Athletes Shine on Valley United Girls Select Lacrosse Teams
Lowell is proudly represented this season in the MYL Select League through its participation on the Valley United lacrosse teams. The city is part of two competitive Select squads, fielding a Grade 5/6 team in collaboration with Tewksbury and a Grade 7/8 team alongside Bedford and Tewksbury, with Lowell athletes making a strong impact at every level and capturing wins.
The Grade 5/6 Valley United squad has already played four games this season, facing Beverly, Chelmsford, Swampscott, and Stoneham. Several Lowell players have emerged as key contributors. Maeve McKiernan and Vivian Shanley have been standouts, leading the team in draw controls while also contributing critical goals on offense. In net, J’Lynn Wallace has delivered consistent and confident play as goalkeeper, anchoring the defense.
Lowell’s success at this level is also driven by strong teamwork across the field. Ellie Branco and Addison Dolan have made important contributions on attack, helping to move the ball and generate scoring opportunities. Brooke Sorbi has provided valuable support on the offensive end, while Ellie Jaracz and Maya Underwood have played key roles defensively, helping limit opponents’ scoring chances.
The Grade 7/8 Valley United team has competed in three games so far this season against Lynnfield, Groton-Dunstable, and Stoneham. Lowell athletes have again been well represented. Reese McKiernan has shined with strong all-around play, while Erin McGovern has been a steady presence in goal, making key saves to keep her team competitive. Maggie Wilson has stood out defensively, showing strength, positioning, and leadership at the back.
Additional Lowell players contributing to the Grade 7/8 team include Nora Kelly, Cate Richardson, Maggie Richardson, Nora Graham, and Skylar Nwaise, each adding depth, effort, and teamwork to the roster.
Together, these athletes highlight Lowell’s growing presence in regional select lacrosse and reflect the skill, dedication, and community spirit of the city’s young players.
