The Town of Westford has been awarded a $125,000 Green Communities Competitive Grant from the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) to fund energy efficiency improvements at the Cameron Senior Center.
The grant will support two projects:
- $58,148 for the installation of a Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) heat pump system.
- $66,852 for a Building Management System (BMS) upgrade.
These improvements will increase the Cameron’s energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve building performance, and enhance comfort for residents and visitors.
Westford was selected through DOER’s competitive grant program, which funds municipal projects that reduce energy use, lower operating costs, and advance the Commonwealth’s clean energy goals.
The Cameron Senior Center is housed in the former Cameron School building. The renovation and restoration of the property, which began in 1992 and was completed two years later, included an addition intended to mimic the historic appearance of the original structure and add program space.
The Town of Westford extends its appreciation to the Commonwealth for its continued investment in local sustainability initiatives and looks forward to completing these improvements at the Cameron Senior Center.
