Residents of the Westlands neighborhood of Chelmsford may want to keep an eye out over the next couple of days, after a bear was spotted roaming around on Linwood Street yesterday.

The resident who sent us the video was walking her dog when she was alerted to the bear’s presence. The animal followed her home, passing through her front yard before strolling over to a neighbor’s property.

Wildlife authorities advise securing trash and garbage in residential areas where a bear is spotted, and remove any potential food attractions. If you are confronted by it, do not run, give the bear space, make yourself look large, speak calmly and assertively, back away slowly without turning and running, and get yourself and your pets inside promptly.
