Mother Nature appears to be giving 4th of July revelers a break, and the City of Lowell’s Independence Day celebration at Boarding House Park will go on as scheduled.

City Manager Tom Golden confirmed the good news late this morning, citing an improved weather forecast and belief on the part of the Pyrotechnics company putting on the fireworks show that they can get everything done on schedule.

Golden adds all planned events will take place beginning at 5pm, with a special viewing area on the Cox Bridge opening up at 8:30pm and the fireworks show beginning at 9:03pm. (View the full schedule below)
