Council Agenda Heavy on Back Central Motions

The agenda for the July 11 City Council meeting is out, and it’s packed with 16-motions, four of them directly dealing with the Back Central neighborhood and the continuing issues near Jay’s Food Store on Gorham Street.

You might be asking yourself; why did we lump Councilor Corey Robinson’s motion (11.6) regarding a potential ban on the sale of glass pens or glass stems into a list of motions regarding Back Central?

The answer apparently lies in the use of these items, also called a “Choy Boy” in world of illegal drug use, as tools to smoke crack cocaine or meth, and that one of the places they are sold at is the aforementioned Jay’s Food Store.

Should be quite the interesting discussion and eventual report from the Law Department!
