UPDATED: 7-Year Old Girl Missing

Update (10am Monday): The full-scale search resumed at 7am this morning, with additional resources re-joining Lowell Police. Due to the weather, drones and the State Police helicopter are unable to fly. As the weather improves, drones will be relaunched.

Update (10pm Sunday): Lowell Police Superintendent Greg Hudon tells InsideLowell “search efforts remain ongoing with Lowell Police resources continuing to comb the area overnight. Additional resources will resume their efforts at 7am unless she is located before then.”

LOWELL — Superintendent Greg Hudon reports that the Lowell Police Department is seeking the public’s help with locating a missing 7-year-old girl and asking residents in the area of East Merrimack Street and River Road to check their properties.

ANNA, Age 7, of Lowell, was last seen on Sunday, July 9, between 2 and 3 p.m. in the area of East Merrimack Street in the Belvidere neighborhood. Anna lives with her family on Geanna Lane.

ANNA is on the autism spectrum and is non-verbal. She was last seen wearing black shorts, a white vest, and a purple hair tie, and may be riding her bike.

Lowell Police are asking residents of both Lowell and Tewksbury who live in the areas of East Merrimack Street and River Road to check hidden areas of their properties if possible.

Lowell Police have deployed multiple officers, the K-9 Unit, and the Drone Unit to the area, and are also being assisted by the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council K-9 Unit, the Massachusetts State Police Airwing, the Massachusetts State Police K-9 Unit and the Lowell Fire Department. Multiple Fire Department boats are checking the Merrimack River, as is the Lowell Dive Team.

Residents are advised to expect a large police presence in the area during the search.

Anyone who has information on ANNA’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 or Lowell Police at 978-937-3200.
