Trahan, Warren & Markey Coming to Lowell to Announce Bridge $$$

Third District Congresswoman Lori Trahan will be joined by Massachusetts Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey in Downtown Lowell this coming Monday, August 7th, to highlight $21.4-million in Infrastructure Bill funding headed to the Mill City.

The high-powered trio of D.C. officials will be joined by City Manager Tom Golden and Mayor Sokhary Chau at the Mack Plaza on the corner of Market and Shattuck Streets, located right in front of the Market St. bridge scheduled for work. A number of other elected and local officials are likely to be on-hand as well for the 11am ceremony.

The high-powered D.C. visit is a follow up to the announcement back in late June regarding the Broadway Street Bridge over the West Canal, Market Street Bridge over the Merrimack Canal, Lawrence Street Bridge over the River Meadow Brook and Swamp Locks Pedestrian Bridge over the Lower Pawtucket Canal.

Monday’s gathering will spell out the specific amounts allotted to each of the bridges, with Market Street and Swamp Locks projects slated to receive $7-million, $5-million for Broadway St. and $2-million for the Lawrence St. span.

Let’s hope the city picks a union company for these bridges! Maybe they will get done ontime and on budget unlike the first round of TIGER Grant bridges!
