Haines Chosen to Lead Washington Elementary School

LOWELL – Interim Superintendent Liam Skinner is proud to announce Jeff Haines has been named principal of the Washington Elementary School.

Haines has served as the assistant principal of the Bailey Elementary School for the last nine years. He prides himself on the work he did to develop meaningful relationships with staff, students and families at the Bailey, building a strong sense of community within the school; he believes this goes a long way in creating a culture of learners.

During his time at the Bailey, he worked on the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) committee to develop clear expectations for students and worked closely with staff to support students no matter their needs.  He also created a boys’ running group at the Bailey School; this spring 24 boys completed a 5K.

Prior to coming to Lowell, Haines was the assistant principal of an elementary school in Derry, NH for five years. Prior to joining the administration, he taught Kindergarten and second grade and has experience in several special education settings. Having taught in multiple elementary grades gives him a unique perspective that helps him to best support his staff.

In addition to his education credentials, Haines served as the Human Resources Director for the Marlborough Public Schools.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Education from Franklin Pierce University and a master’s degree in School Administration from Rivier University.  When he isn’t working, he loves spending time with his family, watching sports, and running.

Haines takes the reins from Jason McCrevan, who has moved over to Gorham Street to lead the Shaughnessy Elementary School.
