LOWELL – Interim Superintendent Liam Skinner is proud to announce Kathleen Huntley has been named Interim Principal of the Lincoln Elementary School.
Huntley, of Andover, has served as the principal of the Stanley Elementary School in Swampscott since 2019. She began her career in 1982 as a Math teacher and building substitute at the Marshall Middle School in Billerica. She then taught at Nashoba Regional High School, worked at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education, and was an adjunct professor of Biology at Merrimack College.
From 2000-2006 she worked as an advocate for families with children who receive special education services at Special Education Advocates of Andover, followed by a decade of teaching Science at Blanchard Middle School in Billerica.
Huntley entered school administration in 2013 as the assistant principal of the Nabnasset and Abbot Elementary Schools in Westford, later serving as the principal of Abbot from 2015-2018 before taking an interim principal position in Swampscott.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Merrimack College, completed the coursework for a master’s degree in Biology from the Harvard University Extension School, and earned a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Leadership from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
Huntley’s wealth of experience in the classroom, as an advocate, and in leadership roles at different levels of education, make her an excellent fit for the Lincoln Elementary School. She prides herself on making all decisions with the best interest of the student in mind. She says that by sticking by that principle, she is able to create a school community that promotes collaboration, relationship building, and equity, where ideas are welcomed and staff are inspired to work harder and smarter, together.
Huntley takes the reins from Dr. Ginger Coleman, who led the school since 2018.
