Dracut PD Charges Man with Trafficking Fentanyl

DRACUT — Chief Peter Bartlett reports that the Dracut Police Department arrested and charged a man with trafficking fentanyl.

ANTHONY MALDONADO, AGE 34, OF DRACUT, was arrested and charged with:
• Trafficking Fentanyl
• Possession of a Class B Substance (Subsequent Offense)
• Operating With a Suspended License (Subsequent Offense)

On Monday, Aug. 14, at approximately 11 p.m., Dracut Police received a call reporting a Chevrolet Silverado being driven erratically in the area of Tyngsborough Road.

Patrolman Andrew Gys was working a detail at Nashua Road and Lakeview Avenue, observed the Silverado and ordered its driver to pull over. Officer Jake Malandrino arrived a short time later in a marked cruiser.

Upon making contact with the Silverado’s driver, later identified as MALDONADO, Patrolmen Gys and Malandrino determined MALDONADO was wanted on a straight warrant out of Lowell District Court, and that he was allegedly driving with a suspended license.

Upon taking MALDONADO into custody on the warrant, officers discovered MALDONADO in possession of a bag containing approximately three grams of fentanyl. A subsequent search of the vehicle MALDONADO was driving also located a bag containing approximately 12 grams of fentanyl, and a bag containing approximately two grams of crack cocaine.

MALDONADO was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Lowell District Court.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
