A New Name Emerges for City Council

Today was the first day candidates for public office in the upcoming Lowell municipal election could pull nomination papers at City Hall.

In all, 17 City Council or School Committee candidates showed up in the Elections Office to begin the process. All except one have previously announced their candidacy or have established accounts with the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance; Amada Gregory.

InsideLowell had been told previously that Gregory, a Downtown resident who sits on the Board of Directors at Coalition for a Better Acre and has been a passionate family and women’s advocate for years, has been contemplating a challenge to District 4 Councilor Wayne Jenness.

Today’s appearance at City Hall seems to confirm those rumblings, though it should be noted she has not created an OCPF account, another essential step to running for public office.

Gregory has yet to respond to our requests for comment.
