Our baseball teams were in action this weekend. Take a look at our top performers. Our program is excited to work towards hosting our Memorial Day Weekend tournament across Lowell hosting 30+ teams. Watch out for our tournament preview next week…
9U Baseball
Brian Barry launched a three-run, bases-clearing double to lead Boomer 9U to a split with Team Boston. Blake Doucette provided great defense catching both games. Kaleb Pigeon and Will Tobin provided solid at-bats throughout the doubleheader. The team is looking forward to four division games this weekend against top competition.
10U went 2-0 on the weekend outscoring the NE Longhorns 24-1 in the double header. Harry Zahareas (4 hits 5 RBIs) and Junior Ventura (3 hits 4 RBIs) led the offense on the day. Emily LeLacheur added in with a hit, RBI, and a run scored in game 2. Others adding 2 hits each were Ryder Swett, James Kane, and Jacoby Romanowsky. Strong pitching performances were aided by strong defense by Swett and Ventura. The 10U club faces two division doubleheaders this coming weekend.
Boomer 11U went 2-0 against a tough Runbirds Baseball team. Game 1 provided excitement with a walk off win on a Logan Kelly bunt single driving in the winning runs. Boomer saw offensive contributions up and down the lineup. Drew Durkin, Wes McDonald, Matthew Rurak, and Jack Duffy each had three hits. Wes McDonald provided great defense with a diving catch in right field then threw out the runner at home plate. Alexis Romanowsky, Emilio Cespedes, Harry Shea, and Finn Stevens all pitched well.
12U Baseball
Boomer 12 U split with the Elite Antonelli Gold team on Saturday. The offense was paced by Bryceson Silva with his first homerun of the season and offensive contributions up and down the lineup. Silva captured the win on the mound in Game 2 holding Antonelli’s potent offense to 2 runs over six strong innings. Defense and smart baserunning were key in the Game 2 victory.
13U Baseball
13U lost both games of their double header over the weekend. Deon Hoeun had 2 hits and an RBI while Tim Franks, Luke Floor and Michael Rillovick each had doubles. Rillovick pitched well in the losing effort as did Kingston Phouvong. Nate Norman played well defensively.
14U Baseball
14U Earned a split of this Saturdays doubleheader. In game one Thomas Shay had another fine start on the hill, throwing 5 innings allowing only 2 hits. At the plate, Melchizedek Vann was 3-4 and Quinn Conley went 2-3 with a double. Game 2 saw the combination of George Grillakis and Kieran Donaghue on the mound. Each allowed 2 earned runs and struck out 15 combined. Nolan Allen stayed hot at the plate.
15U Baseball
Shawn Hines struck out 8 over 5 innings in the Lowell Catholic win vs Tyngsboro. The 15U team is looking forward to starting their Select Baseball season at the end of the month.
16U Baseball
16U Ned Akashian and Kelvin Perez each had two hits as Lowell defeated Central Catholic 5-1 in an MVC game.
Andrew Reid had two hits in Middlesex School’s win over Portsmouth Abbey School.
Brenden Modeski had two hits in Dracut’s game with Haverhill. Riley Johnson gave up just 1 run in relief.
8U Softball
Vivian Brown starred defensively for the 8U with great plays across the field through the Purple v Black game. Kailyn Lappin had three hits and Elliot Corbin was a standout at the plate and in the field. The teams will continue their series Friday night.
