Lowell High’s upset playoff win at Methuen caught the attention of New England’s football team, with the Patriots honoring Scott Boyle as their “Coach of the Week.”

In his second stint as the team’s Head Coach, Boyle and his hard working squad of student-athletes secured the Red Raiders’ first ever playoff victory under the new Massachusetts High School Football format.

NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Andre Tippett, the Patriots Executive Director of Community Affairs, visited Lowell High Monday to deliver the honor, presenting a generous donation of $1,000 to the football program on behalf of the Kraft family and the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation.

“What the Lowell Red Raiders did Friday night was what high school football is all about: Heart, Preparation and Pride,” Tippett said. “You can see a team that believed in each other and refused to quit. That kind of effort is hard to come by a true testament to the commitment and teamwork.”
