(Lowell City Councilor Corey Robinson responds to a Lowell Sun article he says takes his recent words on the council floor out of context. Click here to read the article)
“Now this amusing to me. This struggling rag is choosing to use something I said on the council floor in response to a speaker attempting to discredit any work our local government has been doing to address this issue. I guess when more people are using your print material to light their fireplaces than actually advertising or subscribing, any controversy can help. I would strongly encourage anyone interested to watch the LTC recording of the meeting to understand the context of the conversation.

As a colleague of mine explained, the barrage of speakers looking to discredit the council in an attempt to advance a particular organizations agenda does not help our unhoused neighbors one bit. This game being played as part of an attempted money grab by this organization is only hindering efforts to increase and improve resources available.
Our local government is NOT looking to disrespect, harm, or treat anyone like a second class citizen. We are working towards improving and increasing the amount of shelter resources available that provide wrap around services that are specialized to deal with the many complexities that are involved.
As I have mentioned before, this is a very complicated, nationwide issue that is going to take ALL hands on deck to begin to address. From Federal, State, and local government to non profit organizations, faith groups, and regional administrations. I will continue to have these conversations and work towards finding solutions that begin to address this situation that is bearing down heavily on the hearts and minds of society. #TogetherWeMakeADifference”
