This Sunday, December 15, 2025, the city of Lowell will host a unique cultural event that promises to inspire, educate, and connect the community. Compartamos Una Historia: Voices of Immigrants Through the Arts will bring together poets, dancers, artists, and writers in a celebration of cultural resilience and immigration experiences.
Organized by the Latinx Community Center for Empowerment (LCCE), Middlesex Community College, and the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and La Guagua Poetry Festival, this event aims to highlight immigrant stories through various artistic expressions, offering a platform to share experiences and reflect on themes of identity and community.
The event, which will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., will feature diverse activities across two venues. It includes a roundtable where community members will share their stories, a creative writing workshop open to the public, interactive activities that encourage learning and participation, all with simultaneous translation into English.
The finale will be a grand performance of Bomba Antillana, a vibrant and ancestral Puerto Rican dance that fuses the powerful rhythms of percussion with expressive and meaningful movements. This unique dance style is not only a cultural celebration but also a way to tell stories that reflect the struggles, resilience, and pursuit of freedom of past generations.
Compartamos Una Historia is a reminder of the importance of immigrant voices in our society. This free event, open to the public, offers an opportunity to celebrate and learn about the cultural richness of our community.
The gathering, which promises exciting and memorable moments and includes free food, will take place at the Latinx Center, located at 97 Central Street, and at the Richard and Nancy Donahue Family Academic Arts Center, at 240 Central Street.
