Incumbent Select Board Member Unseated in Dracut

Challenger Donald Plummer topped the ticket in today’s Dracut Board of Selectman race according to just released unofficial results.

Plummer, who was unsuccessful in his bid to win a seat in 2023, easily outpaced incumbents Tony Archinski and Jennifer Kopcinski with 1223 votes. Archinski came in second with 963 votes, good for second place and a return to the board. Kopcinski came in a close third with 918 votes, just 45 shy of Archinski.

On the School Committee side, incumbents Linda Trouville and Allison Volpe won re-election, with 1,293 and 972 votes respectively. Challenger Allison Stilian finished a distant third with 764 ballots cast.

Tom Bomil was the top vote getter on the ballot, securing 1,470 votes in the Housing Authority race.

Turnout was 1,836 voters, 7.25% of the town’s 25,322 registered voters.

    If you didn’t vote shame on you. This one of our last freedoms left and a measly 7% of registered voters came out to vote. That is pathetic. Don’t complain if you see things happening you don’t like. You had your chance.

    If a candidate wants to earn votes, they need to do a better job of getting out there message. When every candidate essentially says the same thing, then what is the point of even voting? Are we supposed to vote based on who recruits the most sign holders?

    I attempted to find statements as to each candidate’s platform. Mr. Plummer had produced a video providing some information. The other two selectboard candidates had nothing that I could find. I deliberately decided not to vote, lacking a sufficient basis on which to make the decision. I agree with Disillusioned Voter.
