InsideLowell Election Coverage Set

As Lowell voters head to the polls, be it on election day or early voting in person and by mail, InsideLowell is once again “ground zero” for the most comprehensive Election 2025 coverage.

Already featuring the most experience local election team around, we’re excited this year to announce the addition of Gerry Nutter to our Preliminary and General Election night coverage.

The former talk host is no stranger to Lowell’s political scene, covering it extensively on the 980WCAP Morning Show from August of 2022 through October of 2024. Nutter has also been a part of the Saturday Morning Live radio show with Warren Shaw for the last 13-years and authored multiple local blogs, including the famed “Lowell Curmudgeon” site.

Just this month, Nutter revived his Sunday Notes column for InsideLowell and will anchor our election live shows on September 9 and November 4, stepping onto the set when polls close at 8pm.

“I’m looking forward to joining Inside Lowell, working with Teddy and the team he has put together, to bring the citizens of Lowell the best election night coverage and analysis,” says Nutter.

Also making his debut as part of our election coverage this year is former Lowell Mayor, City Councilor and School Committee member John Leahy. Leahy, who will serve as one of our many “insider” analysts, stepped away from elected office in July of 2024, leaving behind a two decade legacy of public service.

The District 3 seat Leahy held before leaving office is arguably the most hotly contested race of the 2025 cycle, and his vast connections within the politically active Belvidere neighborhood promise to deliver valuable insight into that race, as well as the rest of the city’s contests.

Leahy will be reunited on the broadcast set with his former school committee and city council colleague, Jim Leary. Leary was part of our election coverage for the 2024 State Primary and General Election broadcasts.

They’ll join Teddy Panos, former Lowell Director of Elections Greg Pappas, and a roster of experienced local political analysts to bring you results as soon as they’re reported at the polling stations, tally them up and tell you what it all means going forward.

Live Election Night Coverage begins at 7pm for the September 9 Preliminary Election and November 4 General Election. You may view it directly on InsideLowell.com or our YouTube Channel.

In past years, thousands of Lowellians have tuned into our coverage on their computer screens, tablets and smartphones. More enterprising viewers, including candidates themselves, have connected to large screen TV’s at their election night headquarters and celebrations.

In addition to our live coverage and daily reporting, InsideLowell will once again host a series of debates in the contested races, beginning with the District 3 (Belvidere), District 7 (the Acre) and District 8 (Upper Highlands) candidates during the last last week of August and first week of September. The top two finishers in each of those races will advance to the general election.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more information on the debates, along with a few other surprises in the works.
