LOWELL – Interim Superintendent Liam Skinner is proud to announce Lori A. Lang has been named Interim Principal of the J.G. Pyne Arts Magnet School.

A lifelong Lowellian, Lang has served as Assistant Principal of the Pyne for the past 11 years. Prior to working as a teacher and administrator at the Pyne, she was a physical education teacher at the Daley Middle School, Health and Physical Education teacher at Lowell High School, and English as a second language teacher and site coordinator at the Lowell Adult Education Program. Lang has been employed by the Lowell Public Schools since 2005.

Prior to coming to LPS, she was employed as a public health administrator for the City of Lowell Health Department.

Lang prides herself as having strong community connections and most enjoys working with students and families to identify and eliminate barriers to education and providing resources to those in need. At the Pyne she designed and implemented opportunities for student involvement, worked to improve school climate and culture, and most recently supported the transformation of the PreK-8 school to a true Arts integrated and themed school. Lang believes that with appropriate access to resources and an engaging school climate all students can grow and learn to their maximum potential.

Lang is a graduate of the Greenhalge Elementary School, Robinson Middle School, and Lowell High School. She is a double River Hawk, having attended UMASS Lowell on an athletic scholarship to play volleyball. In addition to numerous athletic accomplishments and accolades, she graduated with honors and was named the UMASS Lowell student-athlete award recipient. Lang holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health Education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration.

When not working, she loves spending time with her family and friends. Lang’s proudest accomplishment is being the mother to Connor, Timothy and Aidan Lang.

“I am a proud resident of the City of Lowell and product of the Lowell Public Schools,” she said. “I believe our children deserve the very best. I am honored to lead the team at J.G. Pyne Arts. We have something really special happening at the Pyne, and with the introduction of numerous new arts courses, I look forward to seeing our students continue to develop and thrive in the years to come.”

Lang takes the reins from Wendy Crocker-Roberge, who was recently hired to serve as Interim Chief Schools Officer. Crocker-Roberge was the J.G. Pyne School Principal for the past thirteen years
