New Look for LRTA’s Expanding Fleet

The Lowell Regional Transit Authority (LRTA) is proud to announce an updated design look and color scheme with the arrival of four, new state-of-the art 30-foot buses from GILLIG of Livermore, CA.

The new additions make their regional transit debut Monday, Aug. 4 (2025) and expand the LRTA’s bus fleet to 54.

The American-made buses feature a distinctive red-and-gray color scheme.

The design includes a sleek forward-directional arrow that symbolizes the LRTA’s 50-year history of serving Greater Lowell communities and the agency’s ongoing effort to improve public transportation.

Each of the new energy-efficient buses seats up to 27 passengers, and is equipped with one of the industry’s most sophisticated camera systems that provides bus drivers with sweeping side and rear views for increased visibility.

Public safety has always been a top priority at the LRTA and the new buses reinforce that mission.
