DRACUT – Arthur J.  Fortin Jr., 79, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at Lowell General Hospital. Born in Lowell on September 25, 1947, he lived a life centered around family, hard work, and the things that brought him happiness.

A proud Army veteran, he served his country with honor. After his military service, he went on to retire from the Springfield Terminal Railroad, where he spent many years working hard.

He leaves behind his beloved children, Kelly Fortin of Lowell, Kimberly Fortin and her partner, Kevin Vezina of Lowell, Kathleen Tavares and her husband, Paul of Hudson, New Hampshire, Melissa Fortin of Nashua, New Hampshire, Nichole Nowell of Dracut, Mark Fortin and his wife, Nicole of Maiden, North Carolina, Courtney Parrington and her husband, Joseph of Dracut, and Vanessa Fortin and her fiancé, Christian Hefner of Hickory, North Carolina; his blessed 22 grandchildren, who brought love, joy, and meaning to his life; his sister, Kathleen “Kay” Fortin; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was the son of the late Arthur J. Fortin and Helen (Rourke) Fortin and in addition was predeceased by his beloved wife, Deborah Fortin, and his sister, Helen (Fortin) Rocheleau.

He enjoyed cooking, watching his beloved New England Patriots, and relaxing with an ice-cold Bud Light. These simple pleasures were part of what made him who he was, and the memories of those moments will remain with the people who knew and loved him.

He will be remembered for his years of service, though he is no longer with us, his legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren, extended family, and all those whose lives he touched.

He may be gone from our sight, but he will never be gone from our hearts. His love, his memories, and the legacy he leaves behind will live on for generations to come.

May he rest in peace, reunited with his beloved wife and loved ones who went before him.

No services will be held. A celebration of life will come at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME. For condolences, please visit www.mckennaouellette.com.
