DRACUT – Ernest A. Vandal, 88, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Dianne T. (Demers) Vandal, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.
He was born in Lawrence on June 4, 1936, and he was the son of the late Rose Vandal. He was raised and educated in Lawrence and lived there until age 34, when he and Dianne moved to Dracut to raise their two young sons.
Ernest proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years during the Korean Era.
After nearly 40 years at National Auto Body, he retired in 1999. He enjoyed traveling the world with Dianne, visiting destinations such as Europe, Israel, Hawaii and the Greek Islands.
He found joy in listening to music, watching his favorite television shows and spending time with his cherished family.
In addition to his wife Dianne, Ernest is survived by his two sons, James Vandal and his wife, Ann of Laconia, NH and David Vandal and his wife, Roberta of Seabrook, NH; his five grandchildren, T.J. and his wife, Amanda, Jessica, Victoria, Kayla and Zachary; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was the brother of the late Richard Vandal.
Relatives and friends are invited to Ernest’s Life Celebration on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 4 until 7 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Pelham, NH. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ernest’s memory to the St. Patrick Parish Food Pantry in Pelham, 12 Main Street, Pelham, NH 03076.
