DRACUT – Frederick R. “Rick” Coram, 73, beloved husband of Sharon T. (Cook) Coram with whom they recently celebrated 50 years of marriage, passed away on Sunday, November 5th at Mass General Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in Lawrence on November 2, 1950. He was the son of the late Bernice L. (Gerisch) and Frederick Coram.
Rick was educated in North Andover Schools, Berwick Academy in Maine and then Missouri Valley College. He was employed as a Nurse and Anesthesia Tech at Lawrence General Hospital for many years before becoming self employed as a canteen truck owner/operator for 25 years.
He was an active and devoted member of St. Francis Church in Dracut, where throughout the years he was involved in several ministries, fundraising initiatives, social activities and whatever else needed to be done at church, including placing all of the engraved stones at the Blessed Mother Memorial Garden. For years he served coffee and donuts after all the Masses on Sunday mornings. His hospitality and spirit of selfless giving will be missed by so many dear friends and parish family.
In his younger years, Rick was active in Dracut recreational youth sports, having coached soccer and basketball. He also started the Dracut Golf League over 30 years ago and treasured the lifelong friendships of his golfing buddies, whom he loved like brothers.
In addition to his wife Sharon, he is survived by his son, Scott Coram of Illinois; his daughter, Stacey Coram of Dracut; his cherished grandchildren, Nathan and Marielle Coram of Dracut and Sophie, Max, and Shea Coram of Illinois; his sister, Jean Haller and her husband Henry; his mother-in-law, Venetta Cook; his sister-in-law, Donna Shaw; his brothers-in-law, Tim Cook and his wife Michelle Winter and Jeff Cook; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was the son-in-law of the late, Edward Cook and brother-in-law of the late, Michael Cook and Stephen Shaw.
Relatives and friends are invited to Rick’s Life Celebration on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 4 until 7 PM at ST. FRANCIS CHURCH, 115 Wheeler Road, Dracut. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 10th at 10 AM in St. Francis Church. Burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.
