Howard C. Swenson, Jr.

LOWELL – Howard C. Swenson, Jr., 81, died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Andrea M. (Buckley) Swenson, with whom he was married to for 42 years.

He was born in Cambridge, MA on January 25, 1943 and was the son of the late Mary E. (Martin) and Howard C. Swenson, Sr. Howard proudly went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force, where he served during the Vietnam Era. Some of his most honorable accomplishments were helping build the ascent and descent engines for the Apollo Lunar Module and serving at the Eareckson Air Station, formerly Shemya Air Force Base located in the Alaskan Aleutian Islands.

Howard was an avid fitness enthusiast who you could frequently find at Choice Fitness, where he enjoyed working into his later years. He also loved reading, history and doing his sudoku puzzles.

In addition to his wife, Andrea, Howard is survived by his children, Howard C. Swenson, III of Loudon, NH, Eric J. Swenson of Ayer, Carolyne M. Swenson of Virginia Beach, VA, Kathryn M. Gullotti and her husband, Paul of Nashua, NH and Kyle T. Swenson and his wife, Lauren of Billerica; his numerous beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister, Sandra A. Mousseau; as well as many other family and friends.

He was predeceased by his sister, Laura M. Swenson.

Relatives and friends are invited to Howard’s Celebration of Life on Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 4 until 7 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 24th at 10 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, Lowell. Burial will follow in Lowell Cemetery, Lowell.
