John E. Dunn

DRACUT – John Edward Dunn of Dracut passed peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, December 28, 2023. He was 91 years of age.

John was the husband of the late Jeannine T. (Morin) Dunn to whom he was married for 65 years and together they raised four children.

Born on June 16, 1932 to the late Maurice and Mary (Coughlan) Dunn of Somerville, MA. After graduating from St. Clements High School, he proudly served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during the Korean War.

He was a communicant of St. Francis Church since 1964.

John grew up loving all things Irish, especially the country and the music. He was an active member, past-President and Treasurer of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division I, Lowell for over 35 years. He managed the P.A.V. Raiders Drum & Bugle Corps for ten years.

He was an automobile enthusiast and prior to retirement made a career of first changing and then selling tires. He often referred to himself as “a car guy.”

John is survived by his children, Elaine Ouellette and her husband Ralph of Tyngsboro, Karen Kane and her husband Jerry of Lyman, ME and Steven Dunn and his wife Kerrie of Lowell; his twelve grandchildren, Lyndsey Haight, Christen DeMont and her husband Chris, Heather Ouellette and her wife Anna Guest, Lauren Ouellette, Ryan, Shaymus, Ronan and Shannon Dunn, Jordyn, Zachary and Jacob Hoar, Nicholas Kane and his wife Kelly; his eight great-grandchildren, Dillon and his wife Jordan, Kayla and Adam Parent, George and Cooper Haight and Zoie Vizcarrondo-Petros, Alyssa and Samantha Kane; his two great-great grandchildren, Lincoln and Nolan Parent; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joanne Dunn; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Louie Maniscalco and his brother and sister-in-law, Maurice and Ann Dunn.

Relatives and friends are invited to John’s Life Celebration on Friday, January 5, 2023 from 4 until 7 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. A prayer service will be celebrated immediately following at 7 PM with military honors to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may me made in John’s memory to Our Neighbors Table, P.O.
