WESTFORD – Linda Lee (Cyr) Hersey, age 85, a longtime Westford resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 27, 2025, after a long illness. Her loving husband of over fifty years, Rick Hersey, predeceased her in 2016.

She was born in Old Town, Maine on April 12, 1939, a daughter of the late Harvey and Eleanor (Arsenault) Cyr.

Linda taught kindergarten for nineteen years at Saint Michael School in Lowell. Through the years, she taught hundreds of wonderful students how to read and write, and how to be kind to one another, with the utmost compassion, patience, encouragement and care. Before she began her career at Saint Michael School, she lovingly raised her children for many years at home, and prior to that taught at schools around New England. She graduated from Farmington State Teacher’s College in Farmington, Maine.

Linda’s generosity shined through in many ways. She loved making beautiful quilts and giving them to her family, friends, and those in need. Her curiosity and joy of life, as well as her positivity and resiliency, led her to explore many interests as she grew older, including laughter yoga, painting, coloring, and sewing. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family; reading and singing, cheering at her children’s and grandchildren’s games and dance recitals, and celebrating special days together.

Linda is survived by her beloved children, Lauren Loosigian and her spouse, Chris; Stephen Hersey and his spouse, Jessica; and Kathryn Hersey and her spouse, Kelly; her treasured grandchildren, Alexandra and her spouse Camren, Victoria and Timothy; Stephen Jack and Summer; Ben and Liam; her siblings, Joe and his spouse, Sue; Peter and his spouse, Dawn; Jerry and his spouse, Debbie; and Susan and her spouse, Hollis “Duddy”; and many cherished members of the Cyr and Hersey families.

She was predeceased by her parents, Harvey Cyr, Eleanor (Arsenault) Cyr, and Alvina (Cote) Cyr; and siblings Jim and Annette. She loved her family very much and she was loved dearly by all.

Linda’s family would like to thank her special caregivers as she lived with Alzheimer’s for many years, including those at Carleton-Willard Village in Bedford, Massachusetts, where she lived prior to her passing.

Relatives and friends are invited to Linda’s Celebration of Life on Thursday, March 6, from 4 until 7 PM at the Westford Healy Funeral Home, 57 N. Main Street, Westford. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning, March, 7, at 10 AM at Blessed Trinity Parish – St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, 107 N. Main Street, Westford. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Westford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Linda’s memory to The Wish Project, 166 Middlesex Street, North Chelmsford, MA 01863.
